Philip is a qualified barrister and Member of MBO.Law practicing in the fields of employment law and personal injury, including claims of maximum severity. He has developed a specialisation in both fields of personal injury and employment in relation to the application of conflict of laws, and European law, to cross-border accidents and cross-border employment.
Philip is able to provide advice to both employers and employees on the application of English employment law to those working in or providing services to the United Kingdom, and in respect of English workers working abroad. In addition to his specialism in relation to International Employment Claims, Philip has a broad-ranging general Employment Practice, with reported cases covering discrimination, unfair dismissal, collective redundancy and protective awards, breach of contract.
Philip regularly appears for both employers and employees. Philip also acts in cases which have a cross-over between personal injury and employment, including stress at work, disability discrimination and bullying and harassment claims.
Philip has developed considerable expertise in the area of foreign accidents, in particular in relation to claims where it is necessary to understand the application of conflict of laws principles and European law. Philip has a detailed understanding of the application of the EU Motor Insurance Directives and the Rome II Regulation 864/2007 to cross-border accidents.
